Dear Members,
If you were not at
the installation of officers this year you missed a good
time. Ron McInnis and his installation team did an
excellent job and that means a lot for the incoming
officers. The time and effort Ron puts into the
installation makes it very impressive and much
appreciated. Thanks a lot Ron!
Not to be outdone, Tim Beaulieu and his kitchen crew did
an outstanding job also. The meal was delicious and I am
sure everyone enjoyed it, I know I did. Tim was asked to
try and keep costs down and at the same time prepare a
great meal and he did both of these things superbly. For
his great efforts in his new job and also for several
other jobs he did around the Lodge this past month, I am
naming Tim the Elk of the Month for April. Congratulations
Tim and keep up the good work.
Dues have been coming in fairly good and many members have
used the coupon in this newsletter to remit their dues.
We still have a large number of members who are still
behind in their dues and we urge them to send them in ASAP
so we wont have to deal with lapsed members all year.
Thank you also to
the members who have made a contribution to ENF. Your
efforts will help us attain our goal early this year.
Fraternally,
David VanDine ER
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF
THE TRUSTEES
Everybody has some reason why they joined the Elks. For
some of us it was pool, softball, or some other activity
that takes place at #1521. There is nothing wrong with
that, or with any of the activities sponsored by the
Lodge. That being said, it should be made clear that no
Elks Lodge runs itself. It requires people to lead
committees and take chairs in the Lodge Room. Some of
the people who run this Lodge have been doing so for many,
many years and are getting tired. We need people to step
up, and make a commitment to become officers. If we cannot
find people to run the Lodge, then the possibility exists
that this Lodge will fold. If that were to happen, the
activities that you joined the lodge to participate in
will also fold and cease to exist. Please give careful
consideration to taking an office, volunteering, or say
yes when someone calls. Say yes for the welfare of
Millinocket Lodge #1521 and for yourself. Thank You, Brad
Ingerson, PER
John Nicholson to be Installed
as MEA State President
On May 6th our very own John
Nicholson will be installed as State President at the
culmination of the State Convention at Sugarloaf. We are
all well aware of how hard working and dedicated an Elk
John is and fully expect him to carry these ethics into
his year as State President. We wish you well John and
hope that your year is safe, enjoyable and successful. We
also look forward to your homecoming celebration next
March!
MOTHERS DAY TEA Our annual Mothers Day Tea will be held
at the Lodge on May 13th starting at noon. All officers
should be present in Lodge jacket to perform the
ceremony. The ceremony will be followed by a light
luncheon and we will hopefully have some live
entertainment.
ELK OF THE MONTH For his hard work doing
several projects around the Lodge and for his great
leadership in making sure themeal after the installation
of officers was successful, I have chosen Tim Beaulieu
to be ELK OF THE MONTH for April 2012. Thank you for
your dedication Tim, I look forward to working with you
in the future.
